The complete journey on the Telemark Canal
The Canal Enthusiast is created for those who wish to experience the Telemark Canal in its entirety. The journey begins in Skien and follows the waterway through locks, lakes and landscapes that gradually change all the way to Dalen.
Along the route, you pass historic lock systems, small waterside communities and the landscapes leading into the mountains of Inner Telemark. The pace is slower, the scenery shifts continuously, and the journey itself becomes an important part of the experience.
In Dalen, the stay continues in historic surroundings, with good meals, piano music in the lounge and time to explore the area around the hotel.

- Day 1
07:40 AM – Meeting at Hjellebrygga, Skien
08:10 AM – Departure with M/S Henrik Ibsen or M/S Victoria from Hjellebrygga (breakfast and lunch included)
05:40 PM / 06:35 PM – Arrival at Lastein Dock, Dalen. From the dock, guests may take the hotel shuttle or walk to the hotel while luggage is transported separately.
07:30 PM – Aperitif served in the lounge
08:30 PM – Seating for three-course dinner at Restaurant Bandak - Day 2
08:00–11:00 AM – Hotel breakfast
The remainder of the day is open for exploring Dalen and the surrounding area at your own pace. We particularly recommend a visit to the Vest-Telemark Museum or the walk towards Rui Farm overlooking Lake Bandak.
06:00 PM – Seating for three-course dinner at Restaurant Bandak - Day 3
08:00 AM / 08:50 AM – Departure with M/S Victoria or M/S Henrik Ibsen from Lastein Dock, Dalen (breakfast and lunch included)

Each evening, the restaurant is set with white gloves and bow ties, creating a setting that makes the evening feel a little different. Many guests choose to dress up for the occasion, though the most important thing is that you feel comfortable.
