Sustainability at Dalen Hotel
At Dalen Hotel, sustainability is a natural part of how we operate — both in what guests experience directly and in the work that takes place behind the scenes. The hotel is certified as an Eco-Lighthouse, a recognised environmental certification that sets requirements for everything from energy use and waste management to purchasing routines and working conditions. Dalen Hotel is also Nordic Swan Ecolabel certified, reflecting strict standards for environmental responsibility, procurement and daily operations.
A continuous effort
For us, sustainability is about taking responsibility over time. Through recognised certifications, we work systematically to reduce our environmental footprint and improve daily operations, while also enhancing the experience for our guests.
This includes, among other things:
- more efficient use of energy and resources
- reducing waste and improving purchasing routines
- a strong focus on the working environment and good routines for employees
A part of the whole
For us, sustainability is not a single initiative, but a natural and integrated part of daily life at Dalen. It is about caring for the place, the surrounding landscape and the history — so future generations may continue to experience Dalen as it is today.

Dalen Hotel is also Nordic Swan Ecolabel certified — a recognised certification that reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility. As a Nordic Swan Ecolabel hotel, we work actively to reduce energy and water consumption, limit environmental impact and improve daily operations throughout the hotel.
Among the requirements we meet are:
- limits on energy and water consumption
- no use of fossil oil or gas for heating
- measures to reduce CO₂ emissions
- effective waste sorting and reduction of residual waste
- prevention of food waste
- reduced use of disposable products
- focus on organic food and beverages
- use of environmentally certified products and services
- training and involvement of employees in environmental work
