Your first visit
to Dalen Hotel
Dalen Hotel is one of Norway’s most renowned historic hotels, with a strong focus on fine dining, history and what we like to call “a spa for the soul”. Here, guests may slow down and experience a journey back in time, shaped by good food, stories, peaceful surroundings and warm hospitality.
The Reception
This is where you check in and receive your room key. If capacity allows, a member of our team will also accompany you to your room. Check-in begins at 03:00 PM, though many guests choose to arrive earlier to enjoy lunch or Afternoon Tea. Please note that both must be reserved at least 24 hours prior to arrival.
At check-in, breakfast times for the remainder of your stay are also arranged.
After settling in, you may explore the hotel’s historic surroundings or perhaps visit the hotel ducks by the pond. It is also possible to reserve a Sauna Kit for Soria Moria Sauna between 02:00 PM and 04:00 PM for those wishing to begin their stay with a quieter moment of relaxation.
Lunch and Afternoon tea
Classic lunch dishes are served in the great hall, the hotel lounges or out on the terrace between 12:00 PM and 03:00 PM. We recommend reserving a table in advance, as both the hotel and the restaurant are popular throughout the season.
Please note that overnight guests wishing to enjoy lunch or guests with Afternoon Tea included in their stay are also kindly asked to arrange a time in advance.
Restaurant Bandak
For many guests, Restaurant Bandak is a central part of the experience at Dalen. Rather than offering an à la carte dinner menu, the restaurant serves seasonal 3- and 5-course menus, with the option of carefully selected wine pairings.
Dinner is available by reservation only, and hotel guests are always prioritised.
For guests not staying at the hotel, we recommend visiting outside the peak season due to high demand.
