Half-Day Tour Afternoon
The day begins with a bus journey from Ulefoss to Lunde, where you board the boat and travel back through the canal system. The two-hour cruise takes you through striking canal landscapes and past the Vrangfoss Locks – the largest lock system in the Telemark Canal, with a lift height of 23 metres. Here, you can watch the lock keepers at work as the ship passes through the locks.
Back in Ulefoss, the experience continues with a guided walk through historic surroundings, followed by a meal at Øvre Verket.

Itinerary
12:05 PM – Meeting at the Ulefoss Locks bus stop, approximately 100 metres before Ulefoss Locks
12:22 PM – Departure by canal bus
12:50 PM – Arrival at Lunde Lock
01:20 PM – Departure with M/S Victoria or M/S Henrik Ibsen
03:20 PM – Arrival at Ulefoss Locks
03:45 PM – Guided tour at Øvre Verket
04:15 PM – Two-course meal at Spiseriet
Guided tour
After disembarking at Ulefoss Locks, you will be met by a guide who will lead you past Ulefoss Ironworks and down to Øvre Verket. Along the way, you will hear stories about the area while walking through historic surroundings.
The walk takes around 10 minutes and follows easy surfaces of asphalt and gravel. Øvre Verket consists of protected workers’ houses and today includes exhibitions, local crafts and a small gift shop.
Ulefoss is recognised as Norway’s oldest industrial site, and during the tour you will gain insight into what life was like for the workers and families connected to Ulefoss Ironworks.
Catering
At Spiseriet at Øvre Verket, a two-course menu is served, including one drink (beer, wine or soft drink).
The children’s menu includes fries with sausage or chicken nuggets, Kuli, and a choice of ice cream from the ice cream counter.
