Dalen's ducks

Every year, Dalen Hotel welcomes Pekin ducks from Holte Farm, which move into the gardens for the summer season.

The ducks have their own house but roam freely throughout the gardens during the day. They stay close to the hotel surroundings and often wander down to the pond for a swim or quietly observe life around the house.

As Pekin ducks cannot fly, they become a natural part of the garden life throughout the season. Early in the summer they may seem a little cautious, but over time they grow curious, confident and familiar to both guests and staff. As autumn approaches, the ducks return to a local farm.

Over the years, the ducks have become a small signature of Dalen — a living and informal presence within the hotel’s historic surroundings.

We kindly remind guests that dogs must be kept on a leash throughout the hotel grounds.
